The foundation of education is like a triangle
I believe that education is like a triangle, and the triangle loses strength without the support of all three of its sides. Students need the support of teachers/schools, their parents, and the community as they learn and grow. Schools need the support of parents, the community, and the commitment of dedicated students. When one side fails, the whole triangle falls apart.
It is important that all sides take active roles in supporting education in our communities.
Strong communities build strong schools and strong schools build strong communities. As a Board member, I hope to offer strength to all three sides so that our schools can successfully support our student population, especially English language learners and Special Education students.
We must support Bond Measure S to bring funding to our school district, which will allow Burbank to complete necessary repairs, bring technology into our schools, and train teachers to use technology. New criteria in 2014-15 will demand the aid of enhanced technology, which is essential for the success of our students to compete and to keep our curriculum rigorous.
I look forward to working with our schools and our community to strengthen Burbank Unified. Please vote for me on or before February 26, 2013.
